I tried something new with Magnum, purely male vocals. The whole mix features a wide variety of male vocalists; from thundering demon voices to fluttering falsettos, from soulful wailers to sleazy geezers – all the while the electro basslines rumble throughout. Starting off with some commercial hits to get the mix kicked off is Chemical Bros, then Dave Guetta got a slammin remix by Joachim Garraud. Calvin Harris has a few track featured that have great lyrics, I actually had a good chat with him the other night (top bloke). This is really a mix of contrasts. I blended completely different house styles together, as well as contrasting male/female vocals. It all comes together superbly, with the constant chunky basslines common throughout the mix. Brio sets the scene with the beautiful track ‘Strings of Tortuga’ before the classic remix of ‘Out The Door’ slides in. The third track is when the fat electro starts to kick in, and nicely followed up with a brand new thumping track from DMS12. Ben Macklin delivers the goods again with his remix of ‘Shining Star’ – absolutely love this track! I included Dirty South’s remix of the Tiesto track for my girlfriend (it’s her fave), just before the really funky electro turns up. The tracks ‘True’ and ‘Hot’ absolutely kick ass, you’ll love them.
