Feeder

by StreX on Jul.10, 2010, under 2010, Mixes

Blender

Feeder serves up nothing but big, fat, juicy house music in all forms. From techno to prog to electro and everything in between, Feeder focuses on vocal heavy tracks that are built for the dancefloor. There has been a large push lately to bring back the strong soulful vocals of classic house music, and champions such as Axwell and Max Vangeli have been leading the charge. Lots of fan favourites and remixed classics feature in this mix, and I even drop some phat Dutch house bombs towards the end. The final track is a cracker for fellow Aussies :D (continue reading…)

Deluxo

by StreX on Dec.31, 2009, under 2009, Mixes

Deluxo

Deluxo showcases some great progressive house tracks featuring fine female vocals and smooth synth melodies. Lots of big names on this mix with stellar tracks from Eric Prydz, Steve Angello, Laidback Luke, Gregor Salto, Avicii, Kaskade, plus some classy remixes from local Brisbane legend Nick Galea. The stand-out tracks for me are the two remixes done by Arno Cost, he absolutely kills it with his use of vocals, lyrics and driving basslines. Deluxo is a perfect mix for earlier in the evening to set the groove. (continue reading…)

Voyager

by StreX on Jun.15, 2009, under 2009, Mixes

Voyager

Taking a journey into the deeper side of prog, Voyager captures that hypnotic roll of the heavy drum beat and smooth vocals with powerful lyrics. This mix really has that epic vibe to it, with all the delicate piano work and subtle melodies that put you in a more chilled mood without boring you. No progressive-house mix would be complete without a Deadmau5 bomb, and the trance masters drop in such as Armin Van Buuren and Paul Van Dyk with classy remixes by Inpetto and EDX. The first half of Voyager features the more recognizable tunes while the second half delves deeper and darker for that melancholic touch. (continue reading…)

Ripple

by StreX on Jan.02, 2009, under 2009, Mixes

Ripple

Smooth and classy, Ripple just rolls along at a steady pace and is perfect for those times when you are in the mood for some softer beats. The exquisite female vocals throughout the mix create a trancey sort of vibe but at a much more manageable tempo. Nothing beats Sia’s vocals or lyrics, she is simply superb. Special mention also goes to the melodic prog interlude of Sebasitien Leger, I’m really digging his style lately. As usual I’ve found some remixed classics to give that touch of familiarity. Cruisy. Wired replicates a whole club night’s full of music into one CD. Starting off with some smooth tunes to set the evening mood, Wired then moves off into some peaktime punch tracks that will really get you moving until it’s time to pull yourself together at dawn and get to the afterparty :) (continue reading…)

Velvet

by StreX on Mar.21, 2008, under 2008, Mixes

Velvet

Smooth and classy… Velvet turned out to be a bit of a tribute to two of my favourite artists – Pryda and Deadmau5. They really are musical geniuses that create such vivid soundscapes, so just slide into Velvet and immerse yourself in the progressive layers of sounds. I found some interesting whitelabel versions that have some oldschool vocals dropped over the beats for something interesting and I think it worked out awesome. I especially love the last two tracks remixed by Deadmau5, the gorgeous female vocalists and deep lyrics really hit the spot. (continue reading…)

Winter

by StreX on Jul.16, 2007, under 2007, Mixes

Winter

Winter is a more chilled mix than my usual stuff, but I still managed to maintain an electro edge. With artists like Hybrid, Sia, Groove Armada, Zero 7 and Ben Macklin, this mix is great for those times when you aren’t in the mood for heavy banging electro. I’ve even thrown in some old classics for a bit of nostalgia. Smooth… (continue reading…)
